The Central Electricity Generating Board was responsible for electricity generation and distribution in England and Wales from 1957 until 1990 while the electricity industry in Britain was nationalised. The CEGB owned and operated the nations power stations and distribution grid.

1979-1985 as a trainee. Home base was Eggborough but spent half the time at training locations and colleges. Many fond memories and gratitude to the training department for giving me a lifelong engineering skill. I would like to know what became of KC Brown the Training manager, NERegion. Top man.
I starred my apprenticeship in 1967, once completed I was employed at Thorpe Marsh Power Station near Doncaster. I worked has an Instrument Mechanic, this was really before computers were used. The nearest at the power station was a data logger though we did have chemical analysers and many, many pen charts and dials.
Enjoyed my time very much and eventually left to join ICL and have worked with computers ever since.
