The 1,000 MW Ironbridge Power Station opened in 1969 and consists of two 500MW AEI generating units. The station's cooling towers are uniquely coloured with a punk hue.
The boiler house at Ironbridge B is a mostly metal-clad structure. The boiler house contained two boilers manufactured by Forster Wheeler, along with the associated coal delivery systems and mills.
The administration block at Ironbridge B is a free-standing building, separate to the main power station, containing the offices, laboratory, bathhouse and medical facilities.
The four cooling towers at Ironbridge B were unique in that they were constructed using concrete that had a red pigment added to give the towers a pinky hue to help them blend into the surroundings.
